Peaceful Guardians Project: Mentor Training

Date: Tuesday July 23rd, 6pm – 8pm

Event Description:

The Peaceful Guardians Project is a police/community engagement designed to put Kingston police officers and Kingston youth from under-served communities in direct contact with one another in a mutually supportive, learning environment where activities foster greater understanding, empathy and trust.

This event will be for Mentor Training.

The Homeless Project: Last Night For Dinner {Opening Reception}

Date and Time: Saturday July 6th, 4pm – 7pm

Event Description:

Rise Up Kingston presents The Homeless Project : “Last Night for Dinner” as a way for individuals who are considered invisible in the eyes of society to have their voices heard through this Art Project. The title “Last Night for Dinner” is universal because everyone sits down to eat a meal at the dinner table but not everyone can sit down to eat a full meal at the table. The concept of using placemats is a simple ornament most people take for granted. The placemats are the words and images of human beings who are experiencing homelessness or housing crises.

The exhibit is also offering an opportunity for artist who are experiencing homelessness or a housing crises a chance to get their art work sold.

July 20th will have performers & speakers. More details to come.
