Sunday we have the Art Walk Kingston Mural Project mural also on display.  To participate in it’s creation, visit the Village Grocery/Kingston Standard parking lot on Saturday.

Event Description:

Maizy Milliken’s art is a part of the art thesis projects of students enrolled in the Senior Art Seminar course at Kingston High School. These seniors are graduating with a concentration in the visual arts. Projects were self-defined, reflecting the varied interests and voices of the young artists that conceived of them. Working with a mentor teacher, students were responsible for the entire process of researching, developing, executing, and curating their work. As an added challenge, a majority of these seniors were working remotely this year, turning their bedrooms into their art studios, and depending on video conferencing for support. They are applauded for their achievement despite the obstacles!

Description:

Learning new ways and skills to make art with and teaching those ways and skills was not an easy thing in the 2020-21 pandemic school year.​  First, we all had to learn how to learn and how to teach in this new remote way…we had a bit of practice in spring 2020 but this time around we were all determined to be better at it. ​ We distributed and delivered art supplies. ​ Using the document camera, recording demonstrations and lessons, asking students to hold up their art to the computer screen camera to share their progress throughout lessons, and managing to have class critiques to give each other feedback, some students returned splitting classes into two hybrid parts- somehow, it all happened. ​

Our student artists were resourceful, hardworking, and fearless despite the many challenges.​

The Idea Garden and Ione’s 26th Annual Dream Festival present Priestess Round Table, A virtual discussion and Q & A moderated by Artist and Advisor Sadee Brathwaite, featuring IONE, Shirley Parker-Benjamin, Toni Thomas and Li Harris, women artists and healers who are Minister/Priestesses of the Ministry of Maåt.  The discussion will center on personal creative and healing aspects, the influence of African heritage on art and life-how living a life of authenticity can be a revolutionary act, and art as healing and healing as art.  The Ministry of Maåt is an international spiritual and educational organization nurturing the ideal of a harmonious and balanced world community.  Featured Round Table guests are noted Black artists, healers, writers, and community organizers.

Sadee Brathwaite is taking over our Instagram feed to share her latest imagery as the inaugural artist-in-residence at the idea garden. For Sadee, the pieces are a personal exploration of what it means to arrive at a new location, a new destination, a new state of being, a new awareness.  Referencing the idea of coming into deeper realizations personally and historically, and examining Brathwaite’s own relationship to being a black, female, Caribbean born immigrant, the work touches upon the themes of colonialism, immigration, home, community and spirituality.  Please stop by online and learn more about her creative process.

Please join Sadee Brathwaite, an ordained Minister/Priestess of Maåt, as she helps you move and shift your energy and teaches you how to radiate.  Sadee provides guidance, support, and motivation, helping people to heal and grow in life, in spirituality and in creativity.  Sadee will be leading a 30 minute guided Affirmation Session to provide support, strength and courage for anyone who needs assistance going through a life change.  Utilizing mindfulness practices and breathing exercises participants will work with select affirmations that are helpful for grounding, releasing fear, and opening to change.

Started researching Health Insurance for Freelancers

Found out Jon Bon Jovi (most down to earth celebrity i ever met through an interview…maybe i didn’t pay attention enough growing up) runs a food kitchen where workers can work for their meals…Supported by paying patrons.  Bon Jovi did dishes because they didn’t want people catching covid?  But there were a bunch of people in truck?  Daughter’s expression in picture?Thought about the pros and cons of making the ig a food pantry…need?…would people take free food? could it be funded completely by other sources?…could managing it be enlivening and not draining?  How do you want to see yourself at death, what do you think of the person you became?

Seriousness in dire times…maybe better to not be so serious? Can I be kind and still not experience stress, or perhaps not experiencing the stress of the world is disingenuous to being kind?

I love people but hate their drama and its discomfort.    I’m sorry people have discomfort and drama, but my feeling it doesn’t help them.  It does actually, because it should stimulate you to help them…why does that feel so uncomfortable?  It’s unfortunate I also have my own discomforts to work on.  It would be great if I could just handle all the discomfort effortlessly.

Before dollar crashes due to inflation that can no longer be controlled by FED raising interest rates like they did in the 70s… invest in global commodities and emerging asian markets according to Peter Schiff in this infomercial. Interesting problem to have…be thankful you don’t have to visit a food pantry for sustenance.
