Welcome. Bienvenido. أهلا بك. Welkom. 欢 迎.

The idea garden was a place to cultivate collaborations towards positive community action, hold events and workshops, and share art.

A big thanks to everyone who shared their creativity and their presence in the space over the last few years. Sadly, we made a tough decision to close the idea garden permanently. It was a brief but wonderful experience. We wish everyone the continued energy to overcome life's challenges and to grow and fulfill their big ideas. We hope to still see you around the Kingston neighborhood.

All the Best, Matt & Jess.

Check out another important conversation and opportunity to learn at @goodworkinstitute Repost from @goodworkinstitute • As we continue with our "Spaces Intended for Us" series in honor of Pride Month, our next offering will be SIFU: An Experience of Transgender Discrimination (Thursday, 6/24). Transgender people are facing more and more discrimination including bans on gender-affirming treatments and procedures that can be essential to their physical and emotional well-being. Raine Grayson shares his story of experiencing horrific transphobia in the medical establishment, and how it almost killed him. There is a difference between creating spaces - whether inside ourselves or in the world - that are “welcome to all” versus “intended for you.” In the former people can come in without assurance of being included. The latter puts attention into creating spaces that take into account the perspectives and needs of the array of human identities too often relegated to the margins, whether Latinx, Black or other people of color; LGBTQ+; people with accessibility needs; immigrants; elders; etc. Spaces Intended for Us: An Experience of Transgender Discrimination will braid strands of mindfulness; stories from personal experience and the media, and; and reflections prompted by these stories and by your own experiences. This weave of considering the universal aspects of narrative, focusing our attention in the present moment, and tuning into our thoughts and questions, will spur our exploration and dialogue of what is; what it could mean to create spaces intended for all of us; and what it would mean for our own Good Work to commit to taking action to get there.
